Pecten, the shell cardi

It is the story of a baby's cardigan that wanted to grow up!

How was Pecten born?

If you have known PurPle Laines for a while, you possibly know that I like to work with Sandrine and Co. You may also know that Sandrine designed a lovely baby's cardigan for the French knitting magazine Passion Tricot that was issued last September.  Her pattern had much success and Sandrine felt like offering a larger version for little girls aged 2 to 12.

So here is Pecten! We worked 2 versions; a long pink one worn by Madeleine and a short grey one worn by Zoé. The pattern directions and quantities are only ofr the long version (please do not question us on quantities for the short version; it was made only to give you an idea, its quantities were not tested).

To knit Pecten, you'll start with the sleeves, then the main part is worked bottom-up. The knitting techniques used are basical.

You'll find many more photos on le Blog PurPle, don't miss them! All the technical details are on the pattern page.

What do you need to knit Pecten?

Thanks a lot Sandrine for this new collaboration with PurPle Laines and thanks to our 2 top models!
